As some of you may know, I made a very quick trip to visit my family who I hadn't seen since tree planting last May. There was a lot of catching up to do!
It was exactly a full week trip with four whole days spent in Ontario. It was affordable though! I flew with Flair airlines for the first time. It was $350 for the round trip, four-hour direct flights between both Vancouver and Toronto airports, and great service! I would definitely recommend them as an airline to travel with!
I meant to see as many people as possible when I went to visit family in Killaloe but my first morning it was raining, then started snowing heavily, and by Sunday morning we were snowed in.
My birthday, I was snowed in!
There were only about eight people in the church that morning, and I had to literally climb over a snowdrift to get birthday wine from the LCBO. Still, being snowed in meant more quality time with family.

Weather in Toronto was surprisingly nice! I spent two days there visiting the barn I used to work at, meeting up with old friends, and training at Team DNA BJJ, my old jiu-jitsu gym!
In my head, I was thinking, "Weather in Vancouver is going to be better than Toronto because of its reputation for more reasonable conditions. "
Starring at the flight board, five in the morning, Toronto airport -my flight was one of the only flights to Vancouver not canceled. When I landed in Vancouver, the place was a mess! It was full of snow and looked like a ghost city. Hardly anyone was on the street, little had been plowed, and there were hardly any cars on the road. The whole sky train ride to my aunts the operator kept announcing we may not be able to get as far as Surrey due to weather conditions!
Thankfully, the train did go all the way and I got to spend the rest of the day with my aunt, uncle, and grandparents on my Dad's side! The trip back to the island was long because transit in Western Canada has trouble coping with snowy conditions, but I made it back in the evening to a landscape still full of snow!
I like to chill at a coffee shop close to the ferry terminal at horseshoe bay since there is nothing inside the terminal |
